Projects at risk

Sadly many land survey firms have gone and a few have started up again under another name, leaving behind the liabilities of the past.

Becker Geomatics, CMCR, Survey First and Jevons Surveys have all ceased trading after they went into liquidation. This has left behind a trail of devastation with projects exposed to risk

GNSS replaces OS Benchmarks

Real time 3D co-ordinates related to Ordnance Survey national grid thanks to Loy Surveys investment in the new GNSS national network service.

Using the latest GNSS survey equipment our Surveyors are able to access a combined GPS and Glonass Network solution. The performance of the GPS/Glonass enabled equipment is quite staggering compared to conventional GPS only.

Utility Surveys

The new radio detection scanning equipment will improve the ability to locate underground services. We are expanding our capability to satisfy the growing demand for this vitally important service.

GNSS replaces GPS

Modern GNSS receivers access both Navstar (GPS) and Glonass systems providing improved coverage and accuracy than possible with GPS alone. The GNSS receivers output real time 3D co-ordinates relative to the Ordnance Survey National Network. Loy Surveys only use GNSS receivers.

New Mapping and data centre

Ordnance Survey business and mapping tools are available direct from Loy Surveys who are one of the newly appointed OS Mapping and data centres.

Ordnance Survey Benchmarks

The new GPS based OS national control network has made the older control networks redundant and bench mark information has been removed from latest OS Mapping.

The RICS in collaboration with the OS have released guidelines on the new GPS based OS control network for Architects, Engineers, Surveyors and Contractors. Loy Surveys recommend using OSNet in preference to OSBM's

Our customers are seeing the benefits right away with the reduced workflow leading to faster deliver times than were possible in the past.

All GPS receivers will be linked to the new OS GPS network for instant access to the Ordnance Survey National Grid and level datum at the click of a button.

Its all part of our aim to offer you the best possible service at a competitive cost.

LiDAR Survey in Morocco

The Lidar survey was carried out from a helicopter.

25 million 3D points were recorded over the survey area in less than 5 hours to form a digital terrain model (DTM) of the ground surface. This method was chosen as the site was covered with vegetation making traditional survey methods slow and expensive.

New airport in Tanzania

Tanzania plan a new airport at Songwe following Loy surveys visit to carry out topographical survey of the existing grass landing strip. Real time GPS was used meaning only one Surveyor needed to travel to site.

Chester amphitheatre

During the topographical survey at Chester amphitheatre excavations uncovered many of the remains which our Surveyor accurately recorded plan and level position using robotic total station (RTS) measuring equipment allowing solo working on site.

Ground Radar

Failure to establish buried utilities may be a thing of the past thanks to real time ground radar equipment that Loy Surveys use to locate non metallic underground services such as plastic water and gas pipes.
